Day 6 At Sea May 27, 2010
Another relaxing day at Sea. Went back to Johnny Rockets for breakfast, then onto the pool to relax. Here is one interesting thing about the pools on board the Oasis. They were very disappointing. Really... nothing special at all. You would think since everything else was so spectacular the pools would be too, so we were not impressed by them at all. The Kiddie pool area, however was nice. After 2 hours of fun in the sun, back to room to shower for lunch and then to catch the men's international belly flop competition at the Aqua Theater. Too funny, these guys were pretty good and they had contestants from Australia, Brazil and the good ole USA. And of course most of the men were BIG guys, so their flops were the best with the exception on one lean well built young man from California who actually took 2nd place, almost a perfect belly flop.
The rest of the day we leisurely walked around the ship and looked through the shops and people watched. I also took some videos of the different neighborhood.
This evening in the Opus Dining Room was the 2nd formal night. We did attend this one but did not get real formal, so it was nice and most of the guest were more laid back than normal for formal night. After dinner it was on to see the spectacular Broadway musical comedy Hairspray. It was so good, we really enjoyed it. The show was a full 90 min. production with lots of set and costume changes. With the exception of the Headline show, Royal Caribbean did supply us with the best entertainment I have ever seen on a cruise ship. So great job RC.....!!!!!
Day 7 At Sea May 28, 2010
Our last day on the Ship.. It goes fast! Today we watched the towel folding demonstration at Dazzles. You know those incredible cute towel critter you have on your bed every night in your stateroom? They actually showed us how to do 10 different critters from a monkey, elephant, swan, snake, Lilly flower, bulldog, shark rabbit and even a kangaroo with baby in pouch! The amazing thing is they really look like what they are suppose to. It was fun to watch and afterwards they handed out sheets with instructions on how to make them.
At 11:30 it was fun on the Boardwalk where they were having a family Festival Circus Theme. They had all sorts of activities with stilt walkers (on a moving boat mind you) and a circus run by children, face painters, and all sorts of circus games and activities.
We then proceed to the Opal theater for a Backstage tour where we met and had a question and answer session with some of the cast and crew members from Hairspray. We then were allowed to go on stage and behind the curtain and see all the props. It was an interesting hour to spend learning about what goes on behind the scenes at a theater.
Then at 1:30 it was back to the Boardwalk and the Aqua Theater where the employees from the ship put on a cute show called the Sunshine Celebration singing and dancing to all songs with the word Sunshine.
And finally for the Grand finale at the Royal Promenade with the crew and employees on the ship entertaining us at the Lollapolooza Parade. What fun. Stilt walker again, crazy costumes, loud fun music, lots of color and a good time, ending with confetti falling from the sky!
After dinner we headed back to our room because our luggage had to be put out before 11:00 PM so we changed and then went to the Comedy Live show.... These guys were hilarious! We had a great time and a good laugh. The end to a perfect vacation......! Remember, make those reservations for all shows, you will be glad you did.
The next morning everyone had to be off the ship by 9:30 AM to get ready for the next group of cruisers. We had an early breakfast in the Opus dining room and were called to disembark around 8:30 AM, and like when were arrive, it all went extremely smooth. They always had someone guiding you in the direction you need to go and we were off the ship, collected our luggage and went through customers in under 30 mins! Unheard of......Now that's what I call Smooth Sailing...... ;)
