We were at sea all day today, so we decided to sleep in and relax. We had a late breakfast at Johnny Rockets which was complimentary and very good, oh and by the way, they have the BEST milk shakes...
We then went to the St. Thomas and St. Maarten Port and Shopping Show. Ok -listen when I tell you... this, in my opinion is a trap! I've seen them before, but my husband has not, so he wanted to go, thinking he would get good tips and discounts on shopping etc. Oh they give you tips alright and this gal -"Shopping Shelby" is good, she makes everything sound so wonderful, however they try to sell you this coupon book for $25.00 that offers all these discounts at the shops with lots of free gifts. BINGO! My sweet but gullible husbands falls for it and buys one of these books, not listening to my plea of what junk these free gifts really are! But he was determine anyway. What they don't tell you is the $400 in free gifts is bogus! Believe me folks, save your money, the stuff is truly J-U-N-K. And the so called discount coupons never seem to be what you are looking for, so really it's not worth it, plus the coupons expire the end of the year and they have 20 different ports inside and only a few discounts for the 2 we were visiting...Not worth it!
After that we headed to the Art Auction. It was interesting and the best part was they serve free champagne... Didn't purchase anything, but other people were buying so it was fun to watch.. After lunch we went to try our luck at the On Air bar where they were playing the game "Scene it". Wow, it was a lot harder than we thought, but still fun.
We had early dinner reservation at Chops Grill which as I mentioned earlier it was fabulous, the best meal we had all week and probably the best I've had in awhile. My husband and I both had the 10 oz Filet Mignon which was cooked to perfection and it was accompanied by 4 different choices of sauces. Our waiter suggest trying at least 3 and he was correct, because each one was delicious. I tried the Bearnaise, which is my favorite but he suggested the peppercorn mixed with another type which the name escapes me, but it had a little kick to it. They were both fantastic. Dinner was relaxing and not rushed and took approximately 2 hours. We had such a nice meal and great service that even though the tip was included in the $25.00 we ended up tipping our waiter extra. He was great and deserved it.
After dinner we walked around Central Park a bit and hopped on the Rising Tide Bar down to the Royal Promenade. At 8:30 PM there was another trivia game "Name that Michael Jackson tune" in the Schooner bar. We did pretty good, except it was a lot harder than we thought it would be. Later that evening in the Opal theater there was a Love and Marriage type game show, with guest from the audience doing a "newlywed" type show.
