Day 5- May 26, 2010- St. Maarten

Today we arrived in St. Maarten at approximately 7:00 AM and since we lost time in St. Thomas they gave us extra time in St. Maarten so we didn't have to be back on board until 6:30 PM. I did forget to mention that since we lost out on going to St. Thomas the cruise line did automatically reimburse us for our schedule tour so that was nice that we did not have to deal with going down to the customer relations deck and they also gave everyone on board a credit of $150.00 per person toward their next cruise vacation. Nice also, but would have preferred to of gotten a ship board credit for this cruise instead... Oh well!

After breakfast on board we headed toward the gangway and on to St. Maarten where my husband had a major shopping mission. We decided not to plan a tour for this port, so shopping was on the list of things to do. St. Maarten is a pretty island, beautiful azure colored water surrounded by lush green mountains. We took the water taxi over to the main downtown shopping area which was only 10 mins by boat. There were tons of activity around town with people everywhere looking for bargains. My husband takes out his trusty $25.00 coupon book and off we go to get our FREE "treasures". He was also looking for a nice watch which he did find after going through every jewelry store on the island.... We shopped for over 7 hours. Wow, I was tired and hot and my husband can out shop me any day of the week, he is amazing when he is on a mission. And he did collect almost ALL the free junk from the different stores. And I think now he can see what I was telling him about it being junk, it became a game to see how much of the crap we could collect! We did get some cool stuff, like the Tissot men's watch, some color changing eyeglasses, flip flop and nail polish at Del Sol and some queen size sheets made from Bamboo. We also stopped for lunch on the Boardwalk by the beach which was nice, but getting hotter by the minute so looking forward to getting back on board for a cool shower.

We arrive back on board around 4:30 PM hit the showers and ready for dinner by 6:00 PM. That evening after dinner we had reservations at the Aqua Theater to see Oasis of Dreams. An entertaining water and high diving show. It was amazing the height of some of the dives, especially into such a small area, but they did a great job and the show lasted about 45 mins. It was such a beautiful evening that night so it was nice to just sit back and relax and enjoy the show!
